How to Connect Reepl to Raycast
Run Reepl actions from Raycast on macOS using an API key and a script command.
Raycast puts Reepl a keystroke away on macOS. Because Reepl exposes a plain REST API, a short script command is enough to draft a post, check your queue, or fire off a carousel without leaving your launcher.
Before you start: you need a Reepl account on a Pro plan or above, and a Reepl API key. See API keys & scopes for how to create one.
Generate a Reepl API key
Open Settings → Developers
In Reepl, go to Settings → Developers, on the API keys tab.
Connect Raycast
Click Connect on the Raycast card, then narrow the scopes to what your commands actually need. A key that can only create drafts is a much smaller problem if your machine is compromised.
Copy the key
Click Generate Key and copy it straight away — it is shown once and cannot be retrieved later.
Build a script command
Create a script command
In Raycast, open Extensions → Script Commands → Create Script Command, or drop a script into a directory Raycast watches.
Read the key from the environment
Keep the key out of the script itself:
#!/bin/bash
# @raycast.schemaVersion 1
# @raycast.title Create Reepl draft
# @raycast.mode compact
# @raycast.argument1 { "type": "text", "placeholder": "Post text" }
curl -sS https://api.reepl.io/v1/external/drafts \
-H "X-API-Key: $REEPL_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
--data-raw "$(jq -n --arg c "$1" '{content: $c}')"Set REEPL_API_KEY in your shell profile, or store it in Keychain and read it at run time. Building the JSON with jq rather than string interpolation keeps quotes and newlines in your post from breaking the request.
Run it
Trigger the command from Raycast and pass your text as the argument.
Raycast runs on your own machine, so anything you script is limited only by the scopes on the key you use. Give it a narrow key — drafts:write alone is enough for the example above.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause |
|---|---|
401 Unauthorized | The key is wrong, disabled, or was regenerated. Check Settings → Developers. |
403 Forbidden naming a scope | The key lacks that scope. Click Manage on the key in Settings → Developers and edit its permissions; the key value stays the same. |
403 with requiresUpgrade | The Reepl subscription is not active. Every endpoint except GET /external/me needs a paid plan. |
| The command runs but nothing appears | Check you are looking at the right workspace. A key acts on your default workspace unless the request says otherwise. |
