Inbox Rules

Automatically send a DM to anyone who replies to your X post with a keyword you choose.

Inbox Rules automate one specific pattern: you post something on X that says "comment GUIDE and I'll send it to you", and then you spend the next two days sending the same DM by hand. A rule watches for the keyword and sends the DM for you.

Inbox Rules require a Premium plan or above, and a connected X account. Connect it in Settings → Channels.

Create a rule

Open Settings → Inbox Rules

Click Create Rule.

Choose which posts to watch

Any post fires the rule on every post you publish. Specific post limits it to one, which you pick from a searchable list of your posts.

Start with a specific post. A keyword like "guide" on Any post will fire on replies you never intended it to.

Set the trigger keyword

Type the word that triggers the DM. Matching is case-insensitive, and you can list several keywords separated by commas.

Pick how strictly it matches:

MatchFires when the reply
Containsincludes the keyword anywhere
Exactis exactly the keyword and nothing else
Whole wordcontains the keyword as its own word, so "guides" does not match "guide"

Contains is the most forgiving and the most likely to misfire. Whole word is usually the right default.

Write the DM

Compose the message. You can drop in tokens that get replaced per recipient:

  • First name
  • Full name
  • Username

Emoji are supported through the picker.

Save

The rule goes live immediately and starts watching for new replies.

Managing rules

Each rule card shows which post it watches, its keyword, how many times it has fired, and when it last fired. From there you can Pause it, Activate it again, Edit it, or Delete it.

A paused rule keeps its history and stops firing. Deleting is permanent and asks for confirmation.

A rule only fires on replies that arrive after it is created. Setting one up on a post that already has fifty replies will not DM those fifty people.
